So as some of you know I am in an intensive training program known as Young Rep. I will be reflecting on it over my time there.
Well one thing I noticed immediately in the Musical Theatre Act I, it goes a lot faster and serious. At school choir you could miss a lot and still be in the performance and learn songs. Not in this case. You miss dance practice, you are not in the dance. If you are learning a song you better record the session because we are not going over it again!
As far as the dance itself… it is more then I ever had to do in Wizard of Oz! It is very exhausting and after 6 rehearsals I have already noticed myself to be more flexible and light on my feet!
My acting class is a lot of yoga (Helping in the flexible and light on my feet part) and strangely enough… a lot of walking…. noticing things making observations… I’ll keep you updated on that!
Improvisation is possibly the funnest class ever, and I am learning a lot! Audition Technique has showed me so many things useful. Only on the second week we have gone over Monologues, Slates, head shots, resumés and other helpful information.
Lastly, last weeks master class, Commedia Del Arte! It gave me a rich history of comedy and improv! It was a fun class and showed me this important piece of history that brought forth many acting accomplishes such as actresses (Female Actors) and different character types!
My time at Young Rep has been extremely helpful so far and I will keep you posted!
